0.8.3 A Knight To Remember + 1 Year Anniversary Devlog




Hello,

Writing most of this before my birthday which is tomorrow 2/11.

First of all Build 8 is now public.  This has been the build that I have been looking forward to releasing the most.  Hopefully, you all will find it entertaining.

Change Log:

  • Rest of Day 6 and the B Split
  • About 13,000 words.
  • CG10 and CG11
  • 7'th Ending
  • Fixed the Voice-to-Text reading the Day-Date counter in the top left
  • Changed the Image Dissolves for some transitions.
  • A few CC Tracks and 1.5 Commissioned Tracks from Bug Boy
  • Hide UI Button added to Android Version.
    • Someone finally complained to me about that.

Today is the one year anniversary of the first build of IBWHIP.  Looking back at the year there were a lot of ups and downs.  The first few months after the release of the project were amazing.  It was a like honeymoon.  I was able to pump out builds consistently but that all changed when my summer job took over my life, cracks in the project started to show and I needed to make adjustments to keep me from canceling this project.  Looking back, I still don't understand how I was able to have three other side-by-side translations in the first four builds.  All of that programming was so tedious and time consuming but I still made my deadlines?  While writing this, I just remembered that spend over an hour while I was in Arizona making fake crème brûlée so I could record sound of crème brûlée being cracked.  I don't even own a crème brûlée torch!  My motivation to continue to project is still strong but not as strong as the honeymoon phase.  I made a lot of mistakes and I've always wanted to learn from my mistakes. 

So as of today, I will be deleting the IBWHIP Patreon Page.  I've decided that having this project on Patreon doesn't make any sense.  Even at my highest of highs during this project, the most I was ever getting from Patreon was $50, which considering how much I make from my IRL jobs, makes maintaining a Patreon page not worth it.  As always I will be offering Patrons refunds for the last three months if they want.  This is MY project and if I don't need other people to finically support then the Patreon Page is basically unless. Switching this project from Commercial to Personal will also allow me to use other more restrictive CC assets in the future.  I'll probably have to spend an entire day just updating the sound effects but I'll worry about that later.

That means when I have Build 9 ready, I am just going to publicly put it here on itch.io.  And then when Build 10 is ready, I'll do the same, then it is hiatus time.

I still had fun making the project and I will still continue to have fun making it the future.  I cherish all the friends that I've made and the skills that I've learned along the way.

As of right now, whenever I sit down to try to write for Build 9, the copy of Pokémon Legends in my room beckons me to play it or whatever the distraction of the day is.  So I still have almost nothing written down for Build 9.  I have everything planned out for the second half of Build 9 and all of Build 10, it's just when I try to write the first half of Build 9, I don't have fun.  So I am delaying Build 9 to April and Build 10 to May.  I think I just need to try going at the script in a different angle.

I have idea for what my in-between project will be after Build 10.  My original plan was to do something with a buddy of mine but plans with them fell through so I'll be doing a Plan-B instead.

If I somehow go Super-Saiyan on my writing after today then I might undo the delay for Build 9 and 10.
