How To Not Get Softlocked in WBT


Hello,

So I saw some complaints about the Memory Leak feature in this VN so I quickly made a Toggle for versions 0.1.1+.

I am now realizing that the equations I set up were wrong and that this is happening every few dozen minutes instead of every few hours. In addition to that, actual versions of the VN work differently compared to the Ren’Py Launcher. This is a glitch that I have never experienced before.

Since I can’t update the VN right now because we’re in the voting phase, these are my two solutions.

There are two ways to avoid this:

  1. Disable it when you unlock the toggle to do so when it happens.
  2. Load the VN into the Ren’Py Launcher.

I am honestly embarrassed and ashamed that I messed up this badly. If you had a bad experience playing then please try to make it more playable via these methods.

I was able to get through the VN with the workarounds, but had to power through the crashes. You are really pushing Ren’py to the limit with this one with how crazy the effects are. Even Doki Doki would be jealous! And don’t feel embarrassed! These things are impossible to test given there are so many variables with versions, hardware, and methods of play. 

I say this is worth making an exception for and updating if you have a fix that only takes a second to deploy. It’s not a content change, and we just locked in time. Otherwise, not as many people will be able to enjoy it as intended. So please, patch it for us! I’m sure all the other folks who submitted would agree!

What did you mean by “had to power through the crashes”?

Thank you for the kind words but I will not patch it in June. It was my fault for not testing it enough and I must live with my mistakes for the rest of the month. The most I can do is tell people the reasonable ways to avoid it.

I'm talking about the memory leak feature that causes the game to close out. After turning on the toggle, the rest of the game worked great for me.
